Oh Ca-Na-Da!!!!!

I am so proud to be a Canadian! Even as a child the national anthem could bring me to tears. We have a wonderful, beautiful country and we are lucky to live where we do. During the 1988 Olympics my Canadian pride was at an all time high, but I must say these 2010 Vancouver Olympics have made me even more proud of my country. It is not just the medals, but the enthusiasm and pride of all our wonderful athletes. I know my patriotism will always be with me, and I hope that all Canadians will feel the pride of being a Canadian after the Olympics are over. Go Canada Go!!!

Happy Birthday!

It is Dana's 22nd birthday today- she's the one in the blue shirt...She was born February 27th at 12:17 am, we were in room number 7 at the hospital, and she weighed 7lbs, 7 ounces...What is her lucky number?? And as I have mentioned before she was born on the day of the Closing Ceremonies of the Olympics in 1988.
We are off for a birthday breakfast feast at Cora's and then I am sewing for the day. See you all later!

Spring Sewing Party

Update: 4:00p.m. This is my last post for the day as I need to shower as we are invited out for dinner. Wearing my workout gear with a sweaty head and a linty black fleece somehow wouldn't be appropriate...this is the other project I have worked on this afternoon. It is from allpeoplequilt.com and was made with fabric from my stash. There are just 4 baskets to make, but about 2,000 flying geese for the border. That won't even get started today...
I hope everyone had fun today and it is so nice to make new friends that love to quilt. I will touch base tomorrow with everyone's blogs and respond to emails. Have a productive evening and hope everyone felt today that spring is coming soon!

Update: 1:50
I'm off the treadmill after listening to a little Bon Jovi, Amy Winehouse, Johnny Reid, Lady Antebellum, Bruce Springsteen, etc...and feeling rejuvenated. I am having a snacky type of lunch in my sewing room, so off to start a second project. More later...

Update at 12:15
Above is a quilt I have started to make with Panache, and it is a lovely line to use for a spring quilt. The pattern is from McCall's Quick Quilts most recent Feb/March edition. I chose it as I liked the way the Layer Cake was cut to utilize the fabric without waste. I have the blocks started and have gone as far as I can until I get the fabric to make the cornerstones. The fabric is coming from Kelly, and likely will arrive next week. I also like the name of the quilt- "Celebrate the Day". That's what I am doing today!
Now I am going to jump on the treadmill and then back to the sewing room. I'll eat lunch in there, and get another quilt started.
Good luck everyone! How is your day going??

9:45- we are back from breakfast, and I may never have to eat again...so, the coffee is on, and
the sun is shining,
and the day is young. Let the sewing begin!

We (Charming Guys and Girls)are having another virtual Sewing party this weekend on Saturday. I am going to make a wall or table size quilt for spring. I plan to start around 9 a.m. and will stop around 4 p.m. as we are going to visit friends for dinner. I have my project cut out this time which will help with the shortened day I will have. It happens to be my 1988 Olympics baby's birthday but as she is turning 22 we are not involved so much with the party celebrations...we'll just have a meal of her choice on Sunday night.
The last sewing party was truly so much fun so I am looking forward to this one!

Sunday Morning

We have been having lots of fog lately, so this is not snow, but the hoar frost we seem to have early in the morning before the sun comes out. It is so beautiful and light and airy, that it falls off the trees when you just give them a light shake.
This is field beside our house just as the sun is coming up. All that frost is melted now as it is a beautiful sunny day.

My Favorite Things

We've been tagged by Joan, our Charming co-host to list our favorite things. I guess I am listing my favorite things in the world, not just my favorite things to do. So number one is my family...goes without saying I guess. They mean everything to me, and my interests and hobbies would mean nothing without them. After my family, the rest are in no particular order.
This is the sunset in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Who wouldn't like this? We will be on this very deck watching this sunset in seven weeks- can't wait!!
Quilting or crafting magazines....need I say more?
Music
Books

And, my sanctuary

Super Bowl Supper

I am just finishing up the chili for our guests this afternoon. We have invited Tony's family over to watch the Super Bowl and we are keeping it simple by just serving chili and buns. We'll also have a couple of appetizers and dessert. Not all the family members can come so it will be a small group of only about 8 of us. When we get together for Christmas or Easter, there can be 20-25 depending on who can come. And now that all the grandchildren are adults that number can increase if they decide to bring a partner or significant other...
And here is my world famous chili - good for a cold wintery day. I honestly don't know who is playing in the Super Bowl- I just agreed to host...so I imagine I will sit some of the time upstairs with Tony's Mom and do some hand sewing. We will watch the smaller TV upstairs as she can't make it downstairs to the man cave and the bigger TV. If it is a good game, I will be interested, but if not, I'll be restless and bored...Yay! Go team!!

Sewing Party Prep

I am looking forward to the next virtual sewing party put on by Joan and Kelly on February 27th. I am making a small quilt that could be a wall hanging, so I decided to get it cut out today. Then when I get up that morning, I will be ready to sew!

Plans for February

I plan to put the binding on this Log Cabin quilt made with Kashmir 11.
I plan to put together Block 2 of "I Believe in Angels"
I plan to finish this quilt top. This quilt top includes the block that was giving me so much grief on the weekend, so I will still be challenged this month...only 5 more to make, and then 20 of the other block.
I am also in process of planning a project for another online quilting party scheduled for February 27th. I am going to make a spring wall hanging for my dining room. More to come on that later....
