I have a four day weekend because July 1st fell on a Thursday my employer gave us July 2nd off as well. What a treat! Last night we went to watch our Okotoks Dawgs play and there were fireworks after. After every game the kids can run the bases with Diggity, the mascot and get autographs from the players, so this is a picture of the action after the game.
Then we had the fireworks which were pretty spectacular, although when we got home Chloe was in hiding as the sounds just terrify her. Fireworks and thunder...poor girl....
This morning we decided to hit the road and head to the mountains and go to one of our favorite places to let Chloe sniff new scents to her hearts content. It was raining and cool, but we were prepared. The favorite place was closed so we decided to explore and found a couple of new places to go back to. The rangers were warning of bear and cougar sightings (and we take those warnings seriously) so we didn't go far but it was just beautiful. Everything this time of year is so green and lush.
This kind of beauty is just about 30-40 minutes from our home and we just love to get out and explore. As you can see it is quite misty and we got quite wet, but it is only water...
And this is doggy heaven- all those wonderful wild smells. She exhausts herself when we go and will now sleep all afternoon....
For myself this afternoon, I plan to work on finishing the blocks for the Quilt Along and puttering a bit in my sewing room, tidying up a bit. Often during a busy week I just drop stuff in the room, and don't get in to work on anything, so a clean up is in order...
Tonight is movie night, starting with a BBQ'd steak and nice glass of red wine. Ah, heaven all wrapped up in a long weekend!
